IDOE Approves New School Grading Outline
The Indiana Board of Education has approved a new school grading outline. According to sources, board members voted Wednesday morning to adopt recommendations of a bipartisan panel. Details on exactly how school grades will be determined are expected to be established next year.
School grades help determine several items including teacher pay and school funding. The panel was formed after a scandal erupted earlier this year over grade changing in the old system.
The approval also comes amid a political backdrop. Superintendent of Public Instruction has accused Governor Mike Pence of a “complete takeover” of education policy. A spokeswoman for the Governor’s office tells WTHR, Pence has worked “in good faith” with Ritz.
