Syracuse Man Arrested On Drug Charges

SYRACUSE — A Syracuse man was recently arrested after a traffic stop resulted in the discovery of drugs.
Michael Dean Johnston, 55, 10873 N. Syracuse Webster Road, Syracuse, is charged with possession of methamphetamine with enhancing circumstances, a level 5 felony; possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.
On Aug. 18, a Syracuse Police officer saw a vehicle drive left of center and pulled it over. The driver was identified as Johnston.
According to court documents, upon approaching the vehicle, the officer smelled marijuana. A Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy and a K9 unit responded to the scene. The K9 alerted to illegal substances in the vehicle.
While searching the vehicle, officers found paraphernalia, a plastic bag containing meth, and THC.
Johnston was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Aug. 18.
