Kosciusko County Republican Central Committee Chairman Randall K. Girod has released a formal notice of a caucus that will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, at Nationwide Insurance in the office of Merle Holden located at 13774 N. SR 19, Nappanee. The caucus will be held to fill the vacancy in the elected office of the Jefferson Township Advisory Board.

Eligible members of the caucus, by statutory definition, are the Republican Precinct Committeemen of Jefferson Township who have served continuously, from 30 days prior to the date of the commencement of the caucus.

Pursuant to IC 3-13-1-11.5, a Republican Precinct Committeeman may designate the Republican Vice Precinct Committeeman who is the Vice Precinct Committeeman for the Committeeman’s precinct, and has been such continuously since 30 days prior to the caucus, and the Precinct Committeeman’s designation must be filed with the Chairman (at the address listed below) at least 72 hours prior to the caucus, in order to have a Vice Precinct Committeeman vote as the Precinct Committeeman’s proxy. A proxy may not be revoked after it is filed.

Only eligible members of the caucus, candidates, designated caucus staff, Republican Party officials, duly appointed watchers and members of the news media shall be eligible to attend the caucus.

A Jefferson Township Advisory Board member shall be elected by secret ballot of the majority of members of the voting caucus to fill the vacancy in the office.

Declarations of Candidacy are available at the office of Kosciusko County Clerk of the Circuit Court, 121 N. Lake St., Warsaw, and must be filed with the Chairman (at the address listed below) no later than 72 hours prior to the commencement of the caucus. Eligible candidates will be allowed a maximum of 3 minutes to address the voting caucus.
