Choir To Perform In Disney World
Wawasee High School choir students will be performing at Epcot in Disney World, Fla., Friday, Dec. 20, in the Candlelight Processional. Students were required to audition and were selected to perform.
Candlelight Processional is a collaboration of all sacred pieces with accompaniment and narration. It tells of the birth of Jesus with arrangements of old favorites such as “O Come All Ye Faithful,” “What Child Is This,” “Do You Hear What I Hear,” Joy To The World,” “O Holy Night” and “Away In a Manger.” The processional is a 45 minute presentation and culminates with the “Hallelujah Chorus” by George Handel.
The students will perform with approximately 300 high school choir students, a professional Disney orchestra and singers. Trace Adkins is the guest narrator for the performance. They will be performing the processional twice while at Epcot.
Choir students raised close to $40,000 for the trip. They sold business ads, held a spaghetti supper, sold Mudlove bracelets, candy and held a quarter auction, just to name a few of the fundraisers.
Director of the WHS choirs is Connie Meadows and this is the third time her choirs from Wawasee were selected to perform in the Candlelight Processional.
