Dr. Madelynn Allen
Dr. Madelynn Allen, 63, of Syracuse, Ind., passed away at 6:50 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16. She lost her long fought battle with cancer.
Dr. Allen graduated with her Doctorate Degree of Veterinary Medicine from Purdue University in 1983. She served the local community for 30 years. She began her professional career at Milford Small Animal Clinic where she started out as partner and eventually took over the practice. In 2000 she opened the Animal Hospital of Syracuse. She ran both clinics for several years. A few years later she closed the Milford, Ind., clinic and concentrated on her Syracuse practice. Dr. Allen was forced into retirement, due to health reasons in 2011.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years: Darrell Gene Allen; her two daughters: Dawn Michele Allen DeLaFuente Bullock, Indianapolis, Ind.; Heather Lynn Allen Rick, San Diego, Calif.; her son: Vincent Michael Allen; and four grandchildren: Hector DeLaFuente III, Greenfield, Ind.; Nicole Michele DeLaFuente Smiley, Fort Knox, Ky.; Vincent Chase Allen, Guntersville, Ala.; and Olivia Bullock, Indianapolis.
There will not be any funeral services. Memorial contributions in her honor may be directed to the Animal Welfare League of Warsaw.
