Reiff, Hall Lead Champion Wildcats
BUNKER HILL – The Whitko girls basketball team returned home Saturday night with a championship.
The Wildcats continued their strong season in impressive fashion to win the Miami County Tournament title at Maconaquah High School.
A fast start paved the way as Whitko romped to a 67-26 win over Peru in the championship contest of the two-day event.
The 1-2 punch of Aly Reiff and Jordan Hall turned in outstanding performances to lead Whitko to the title.
Reiff, a freshman guard, poured in 28 points to lead all scorers. She hit four treys in the blowout win.
Hall, a senior for the Wildcats, had 18 points as Whitko improved to 8-4 on the season.
The Wildcats rolled to a 19-5 lead after the opening period and had a 42-13 lead at intermission.
Freshman Brianna Cumberland scored 12 points for Whitko and led the defensive charge that shut down Josie Murphy of Peru, who was held to just four points.
Peru drops to 3-7 on the season.
The Wildcats defeated North Miami 52-45 Friday to earn a spot in the title tilt.
Whitko, now 8-4 overall and 2-1 in Three Rivers Conference play, returns to action at home versus league foe Rochester on Jan. 11.
