Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department
Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Thursday, Jan. 9, 4:16 p.m. SR 19, south of CR 200 South, Mentone. Driver: Phillip L. Talarico II, 26, Shordon Road, New Haven. Talarico was was attempting to pull over for an ambulance when he ran off of the road and struck a utility pole. Damages: up to $2,500
Thursday, Jan. 9, 9:28 a.m. East 400 South and South Magee Road, Warsaw. Driver: Ethan D. Webber, 18, East 450 South, Warsaw. Webber was eastbound on 400 South and lost control of his vehicle, which left the road and struck a utility pole. Damages: up to $10,000
Thursday, Jan. 9, 8:19 a.m. South Ferguson Road and West 250 South, Warsaw. Driver: Ryan M. McDonald, 28, East Center Street, Warsaw. McDonald lost control on the snow covered road and collided with a stop sign. Damages: up to $2,500
Wednesday, Jan. 8, 11:51 p.m. East 500 North east of EMS T10 Lane, Leesburg. Driver: Lawrence S. Saunders, 37, East Wesley Lane, North Webster. Saunders lost control on the snow covered road and slid into a ditch. Damages: up to $5,000
Wednesday, Jan. 8, 6:33 p.m. East 600 North and North 675 East, North Webster. Driver: Yong Hui H. Harbes, 62, West Himes Street, North Webster. Harbes ran off of the road and struck a utility pole. Damages: up to $2,500
Wednesday, Jan. 8, 5 p.m. East 500 North east of Brown Road, Leesburg. Driver: Anna M. Williamson, 18, East Wesley Lane, North Webster. Williamson claimed an eastbound vehicle began to slide and then spun out on the snow covered road, striking the driver’s side of her vehicle. The alleged unknown driver failed to stop. Damages: up to $2,500
Wednesday, Jan. 8, 8:16 a.m. East Bell and North Biomet drives. Drivers: Andrea R. Schuster, 22, Orchard Drive, Warsaw; and Gregory A. Martin, 55, South CR 300 East, Walton. Schuster was attempting to turn onto Bell Driver when her vehicle slid on the snow covered road and clipped with Martin’s vehicle. Damages: up to $2,500
Wednesday, Jan. 8, 6:55 a.m. East U.S. 30 and South SR 13, Pierceton. Drivers: Walter R. Antanovich, 27, East Hanna Street, Columbia City; and Brian C. Kramer, 45, Snowberry Drive, Fort Wayne. Antanovich was unable to stop on the snow covered highway and collided with the rear of Kramer’s vehicle. Damages: up to $2,500
Tuesday, Jan. 7, 5:58 p.m. South Country Club Road and East Pink Magnolia Drive, Warsaw. Driver: David A. Morales, 48, East 550 South, Warsaw. Morales was northbound on Country Club Road and slow control on the snow covered road and slid into a snow bank. Damages: up to $5,000
Tuesday, Jan. 7, 3:22 p.m. Packerton Road near East 900 South, Claypool. Driver: Leanna M. Justice, 25, SR 114 E., North Manchester. Justice lost control on the snow covered road and slid off the road. Damages: up to $2,500
Tuesday, Jan. 7, 11:06 a.m. East 700 North and North 300 East, Leesburg. Driver: Benjamin S. Wilson, 43, South Henry Street, Milford; and Louie Davis, 63, Leesburg. Wilson attempted to pass a tractor that was turning left into a private drive and collided with the tractor. Damages: up to $2,500
Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2 a.m. CR 1300 North and Old SR 15, Milford. Drivers: Joshua R. Greene, 26, EMS D25 Lane, Syracuse; and William N. Shively, 53, EMS D17 Lane, Syracuse. Greene was unable to stop on the snow covered road and collided with the rear of Shively’s vehicle, which was stopped at a stop sign. Damages: up to $2,500
Milford Police Department
Officers of the Milford Police Department recently investigated the following accident:
Thursday, Jan. 9, 4:20 p.m. East Syracuse Street and North Old SR 15. Driver: Pamela Unruh, 59, North Camelot, Milford. Unruh was attempting to make a turn and slid on the snow covered road, striking a light pole. Damages: up to $2,500
Syracuse Police Department
Officers of the Syracuse Police Department recently investigated the following accident:
Tuesday, Jan. 7, 7:05 p.m. North Ogden Point Road and East Sunset Drive. Driver: Luke M. Smith, 18, East Sunset Drive, Syracuse. Smith lost control on the snow covered road and slid into a tree. Damages: up to $5,000
Warsaw Police Department
Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Thursday, Jan. 9, 5:27 p.m. Old Road 30 and Lake City Highway. Drivers: Daryle L. Hill, 45, Clinic Court, Warsaw; and Michael D. Cline, 61, Mansfield, Ohio. Hill was stopped at the red light, but his vehicle rolled backward and struck the front of Cline’s vehicle. Hill completed a voluntary blood and urine screen. Results are pending. Damages: up to $2,500
Thursday, Jan. 9, 4:40 p.m. East Smith Street and South Park Avenue. Drivers: Holly C. Benyousky, 67, South Briarwood Court, Warsaw; and Virginia G. Sheffer, 25, Robson Road, Winona Lake. Benyousky was following another vehicle westbound on Smith Street when the driver of that vehicle braked for a small dog in the road. Benyousky also braked, but began sliding. In an attempt to avoid the vehicle in front of her, her vehicle spun around and struck Sheffer’s vehicle, which was headed east. Damages: up to $2,500
Thursday, Jan. 9, 3:47 p.m. 2245 Jaylynn St. Drivers: Kayla L. Brown, 22, East Backwater Road, North Webster; and Mallory B. Caldwell, 16, Chapman Lake Drive, Warsaw. Brown backed from a parking space and collided with Caldwell’s approaching vehicle. Damages: up to $5,000
Wednesday, Jan. 8, 4:58 p.m. West Winona Avenue and South Zimmer Road. Drivers: Jamie L. Adams, 26, South 850 West, Akron; and Chad W. Hoffer, 24, Snyder Road, Warsaw. Adams attempted to stop her vehicle on the snow covered road and slid into the rear of Hoffer’s vehicle. Damages: up to $5,000
Wednesday, Jan. 8, 11:07 a.m. 1101 E. Winona Ave. Driver: Michael E. Randall, 57, West Baker Street, Warsaw. Randall was eastbound on Winona Avenue attempting a turn on Scott Street and slid into a sign post. Damages: up to $2,500
Wednesday, Jan. 8, 8:51 a.m. Sheldon Street and West 300 North. Drivers: Darlene E. Holloway, 32, South Country Club Road, Warsaw; and Brian K. Grindle, 55, East Rader Road, Warsaw. Holloway’s vehicle slid on the snow covered road and collided with the rear of Grindle’s vehicle. Damages: up to $2,500
Wednesday, Jan. 8, 6:49 a.m. Sheldon Street and West 300 North. Drivers: Lachelle R. Harris, 42, EMS C29 Lane, Warsaw; and Aric R. Shufelt, 28, East Street, Tippecanoe. Harris could not stop her vehicle on the snow covered road and slid through a stop sign and into the intersection, where she was struck by Shufelt. Damages: up to $10,000
Tuesday, Jan. 7, 6:46 p.m. Argonne Road and Durbin Street. Driver: Stephanie I. Chapman, 30, West 100 South, Warsaw. Chapman was attempting to turn away from the road closed barricades, but her vehicle began to slide on the slick road. She slid into a snow bank. Damages: up to $2,500
Tuesday, Jan. 7, 3:45 p.m. East Market and South McKinley streets. Drivers: Logan J. Irwin, 19, West 300 North, Warsaw; and Teresa A. Warrix, 52, North 350 West, Warsaw. Irwin stopped at the intersection, but failed to note it was not a 4-way stop and pulled into the path of Warrix. Damages: up to $25,000
Tuesday, Jan. 7, 12:17 p.m. 311 Rattington Cir. Driver: Pattie D. Konkle, 49, West Blue Jay Drive, Mentone. Driver was attempting to back into a parking space when her vehicle slid and struck a parked car. Damages: up to $2,500
Tuesday, Jan. 7, 11:55 a.m. East Old Rd. 30 and North Cheyenne Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Christopher J. Hurd, 44, East Smith Street, Warsaw; and Robert E. Blahink, 42, East Ridge Valley Drive, Warsaw . Blahink slowed down for a skid loader that was plowing snow. Hurd was following and attempted to slow down, but slid on the snow covered road and collided with the rear of Blahink’s vehicle. Damages: up to $2,500
Tuesday, Jan. 7, 11:16 a.m. Lake City Highway and East Center Street. Driver: Hugo A. Rocha, 19, North Etna Street, Etna Green. Rocha lost control on the snow covered road, causing his vehicle to roll over into the median. Damages: up to $5,000
Winona Lake Police Department
Officers of the Winona Lake Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Thursday, Jan. 9, 8:08 a.m. Wooster Road and West Street. Driver: Samuel J. Padgett, 21, Wooster Road, Winona Lake. Padgett said he was in a hurry to get to work and failed to clear his windshield of frost, which resulted in him driving into a snow embankment. Damages: up to $2,500
Tuesday, Jan. 7, 8:57 p.m. Kings Highway and 5th Street. Driver: Austin C. Miotto, 18, Sherman Street, Warsaw. Miotto lost control of his vehicle coming out of a curve and struck a telephone pole. Damages: up to $2,500
