North Webster Library News
Every family has a story to tell. If you’re a family historian with a saga to tell about your family but don’t know where to begin, the North Webster Public Library can help you get started.
Beth Smith, director of the Library’s Local History and Genealogy Center, will conduct a class at 1 p.m. Monday, July 9, called “Where Do I Begin?” In this class, Beth will show you how to organize your research and put it into a final presentation that preserves your family history for future generations. You’ll explore the various methods of completion, formatting the content, and other ideas for finishing your family history project. Since every family is unique, you’ll learn how to customize your family’s story into a presentation that fits your individual style. No pre-registration is required to attend this informative class.
Keep in touch with family and friends by learning how to make your own customized greeting cards in the “Make and Take” card class at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 12. Jan Biehl will show you how to create original cards for all occasions. You get to take home all the cards you make during class. Pre-registration and a $7 class fee are required to take this class. You can register and pay your fee at the Front Desk prior to July 12.
Foodies will enjoy Janette Stackhouse’s “Hooked on Herbs” class at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 14. In the second class of this three-part series, Janette will demonstrate cooking with herbs, share her favorite recipes, and provide samples of culinary creations using fresh homegrown herbs. The final class in this series will be Sept. 1 in which Janette explains how to harvest and preserve fresh herbs.
The Youth Services Department will be hosting “Interactive Book Buddies” every Monday at 5:30 p.m. in July. Conducted by the Early Childhood Alliance, “Interactive Book Buddies” is a free program for parents and their children ages 18-months to 5-years old. During each session, parents experience the fun of learning with their child as they enjoy songs, books, and other activities. Families receive a free hardback book and age appropriate materials at each session. The sessions are July 9, 16, 23, and 30. Pre-registration is required to attend with registration forms available at the Youth Services Desk.
The final Friday Family Food and Fun session will be at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Friday, July 13. The theme will be night time animals with theme-related crafts and food. Pre-registration at the Youth Services Desk is required to attend one of the three time slots. Then at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 14, Family Movie Time will feature a movie about a swashbuckling, boot-clad cat. Families are asked to pick up their free movie tickets one hour prior to show time to ensure their seats. The popcorn is free, and you’re welcome to bring your own beverages. Preschool Story Time continues at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. every Tuesday until the end of the month.
