A pair of former WCHS hoops stars are now making noise on college courts.

The duo of Jennifer Walker-Crawford and Lindsay Baker, both standouts for the Warsaw girls basketball team a season ago, are in their freshman seasons.

Walker-Crawford, a 5-11 forward, is having a strong season for Kentucky Wesleyan University. The versatile Walker-Crawford is averaging four points and 3.4 rebounds per game for the NCAA Division II Panthers.

Walker-Crawford has played in all 17 games for KWU, averaging 14.4 minutes-per-game. She turned in one of her best games of the season Wednesday in an 81-57 win over Ursuline College. Walker-Crawford had nine points and seven rebounds in the conference contest played at Quicken Loans Arena, home of the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers.

Walker-Crawford has made 22-56 field goal attempts and 24-38 from the free throw line this season. She had a season-high 12 points in a win over St. Catherine back on Nov. 13.

Kentucky Wesleyan is 12-5 overall and 7-1 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.  The Panthers return to action at Salem International Jan. 30.

Lindsay Baker

Baker, a heady 5-11 guard, is playing at the University of Toledo. The talented shooter has appeared in five games for the Rockets, averaging 4.6 points and 1.4 rebounds per outing.

Baker, the all-time leader in 3-pointers at WCHS, has made 8-19 field goals, including 7-17 from long range.

Toledo improved to 8-9 overall and 3-3 in the Mid-American Conference with a 73-61 league win over Ball State Thursday night. Baker did not play in the MAC contest. The Rockets play at MAC foe Ohio University Sunday afternoon.

Walker-Crawford and Baker were sensational a year ago in leading Warsaw to a 24-2 mark that included Northern Lakes Conference, along with Class 4-A sectional and regional championships. Walker-Crawford averaged a team-high 14.2 points-per-game and 6.2 rebounds. Baker averaged 11.4 points, four rebounds and three assists per contest and led the Tigers in treys.
