What is 4-H? 4-H is a fun and educational program offering learning activities, recreation, and leadership training through local clubs. Members develop life skills while completing activities and projects. Members have multiple opportunities throughout the year to meet with their peers to explore these learning opportunities. They have the opportunity to participate in community service projects, talent shows, field trips, and other special events.
Individual project work is offered in more than 70 different areas including shooting sports, Legos, models, entomology, wildlife, crafts, photography, small animals and cake decorating just to name a few. A full list of these opportunities can be found on the 4-H website. County-wide activities include a three-day overnight camping trip, public speaking contests, project workshops and educational trips to Purdue University. Older 4-H members in grades seven to 12 who wish to develop leadership skills and have fun doing so can sign up to be a Junior Leader.
For children in grades kindergarten through second grade, an exploring 4-H program is offered in the subjects of collections, arts and crafts, foods, recycling, bugs, Lego, photography and animal projects such as beef, cat, dairy calf feeder steer, dog, goat, horse and pony, poultry, rabbit, sheep, and swine.

With more than seven million young people, 4-H has grown to become the largest youth development organization in the United States.
