Triton Tops Jimmies
BOURBON – A big second quarter was all the Triton boys basketball team needed Friday night.
The host Trojans used a 13-2 scoring edge in the pivotal second stanza to take control in defeating Jimtown 63-46 in a Northern State Conference contest.
Triton led just 10-9 after the opening frame before taking a 23-11 edge at intermission.
Skyler Reichert tossed in a game-high 21 points to power the Trojans to their third straight win.
Tanner Shepherd continued his strong senior season for Triton with 18 points. Jordan Anderson added eight points and a team-high seven rebounds for the winners.
Triton shot 20-40 overall from the field, including a fine 7-15 from distance. The Trojans also hit 16-22 free throw attempts in the win.
Trevor Hobbs scored 19 points to lead the way for the Jimmies. Dylan Guldager had 16 points for Jimtown.
Jimtown shot 16-40 from the field, but were just 3-12 on 3-point tries and only 11-19 from the line.
Triton improves to 7-5, while the Jimmies fall to 5-6.
Jimtown won the junior varsity contest 29-27. Landon Kauffman and Dalton Bailey each scored eight points to lead Triton.
Triton hosts Mishawaka Marian and Jimtown plays at Elkhart Central Saturday night.
