Apply Now For ‘Day Of Caring’
The United Way of Kosciusko County has begun planning for the 2014 Day of Caring, which will be Wednesday, Aug. 13. County residents needing some assistance around their homes may now apply to be part of the charitable day.
Applications are available at several community locations including libraries, trustee offices, social service offices, senior centers and retail outlets. The application is also available on the United Way of Kosciusko County website. Residents from all areas of Kosciusko County are eligible to apply and special emphasis will placed on projects from the southern part of the county in the communities of Silver Lake, Burket, Claypool, Sidney and Pierceton.
Applications are due to the United Way office on Friday, May 2.
Applicants must own their property and meet one or more of the following criteria: elderly, lower-income and/or have physical challenges which limit or prevent them from completing the projects. Occasionally, general cleaning at rental properties will be considered for the elderly or those with physical limitations.
This marks the 10th year for the Day of Caring, which is sponsored by United Way of Kosciusko County in partnership with Grace College and Seminary. Last year, more than 1,000 volunteers completed 79 projects. The work ranged from yard maintenance and painting to roof repairs and building handicap ramps.
