Synthetic Drug May Be Behind Violent Crime
Synthetic cannabinoid could be behind a man’s violent rage that prompted him to bite off a woman’s thumb and attack a Warsaw Police Officer.
Johnathan Mallery, 25, of 340 E. Levi Lee Rd., Warsaw, was found standing in the middle of Parker Street Thursday evening when officers responded to a 911 call. The call came from a 34-year-old female who said Mallery had bitten off her thumb. Mallery ignored police officers commands and even kicked officer Brandon Zartman in the upper thigh. Mallery was subdued by a police K-9 and taken into custody.
After being treated at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Mallery was booked on one charge of battery causing bodily injury against law enforcement and two counts of resisting law enforcement. Additional charges of battery resulting in bodily injury and possession of synthetic cannabinoid are pending as the investigation continues.
Warsaw Police were assisted on scene by Indiana State Police.
