Freeby, Nagle To Be Honored
INDIANA – A pair of faces and voices very familiar to area high school sports fans will be honored by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.
The duo of highly-respected broadcasters Chuck Freeby and Bob Nagle, both employees of WHME-TV in South Bend, will be saluted with Virgil Sweet Awards by the IBCA.
The pair of veteran sportscasters will be honored as the recipients from District 1 at the 2014 IBCA Clinic on April 25 at Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis. The awards are named in honor of Virgil Sweet, the former Valparaiso High School basketball coach and longtime executive director of the IBCA.
Freeby, a 1982 Elkhart Central graduate, currently serves as Sports Director for WHME. He spent many years as a sports anchor at WNDU-TV and currently is best known as the play-by-play man for the Game of the Week on Channel 46 for high school basketball and football games.
Nagle, who attended Mishawaka Marian High School, is in his 38th year as a broadcaster. He serves as Marketing Director for Lesea Broadcasting and WHME. Nagle is best known as the color man for the Game of the Week broadcasts and as the radio voice of Notre Dame women’s basketball.
