Lancers Show Improvement On Links
SOUTH BEND – The Grace College men’s golf team lowered its team score by 14 strokes at the Bethel Invitational at Blackthorn Golf Club on Saturday.
After struggling to a 326 as a team on Friday, the Lancers fired the sixth-best score on Saturday by posting a 312.
Caleb Rovenstine had Grace’s lowest score during each round, carding a 77-75. The senior, who played at Tippecanoe Valley High School, tied for 14th place overall with his two-round total of 152.
Grace was playing in some of its mildest conditions outside this spring after a long winter.
Senior Trey Stoll, another Tippecanoe Valley graduate, rebounded from a first-round 81 to post 76 on Saturday. Junior Taylor Fanning, who hails from Bremen, was one stroke behind Stoll for the tournament at 158 (82-76).
Sophomore Taylor Breeden, who also played at Valley, rounded out the Lancers’ scoring with an 87-85 tournament, and sophomore Kyle Condon finished with a tournament score of 173.
Freshman Zachary Allyn, who hails from Culver, played as an individual at 83-93.
