He also noted throughout the presentation the importance that Jewish tradition and history plays in translating biblical texts. A Karaite Jew, Gordon stated at the beginning of the presentation that he believes strictly in the Old Testament; however, he added later, “I’m not here to convert you. I am here to empower you with information.”
